Get Rid of Your Systems
I know—this might sound odd coming from The Curated Chapter, where we emphasize structure, planning, and organization. But hear me out: it might be time to ditch your system.
In our last post, Trim the Fat, we talked about simplifying systems. But what if the real problem isn’t complexity? What if it’s the system itself? Many people struggle to stick to rigid schedules and end up feeling frustrated when life doesn’t align with their plans. I’ve been guilty of this too. The truth is, your system should help you flow, not confine you.
We constantly hear about the importance of structure, and social media reinforces this idea with picture-perfect daily routines. It’s easy to assume that in order to improve, our lives must look just like those neatly packaged morning-to-night schedules. But the problem is, that approach can feel forced—especially if it doesn’t fit your actual lifestyle, habits, or goals.
Here’s the reality: your life doesn’t fit in a box, so your system shouldn’t either. Maybe it’s more like a cylinder (okay, maybe not the best analogy, but you get the point). Instead of forcing someone else’s system into your life, become the system.
What does that mean? It means getting crystal clear on your daily goals and fully immersing yourself in the process. Sure, use scheduling tools like time-blocking and planning when needed, but don’t become a slave to them. Flexibility is key. Your system should work for you, not the other way around.
Let go of rigid expectations, trust yourself, and focus on what truly helps you grow.
